Coworking spaces in Berlin

While many of us enter normal work contracts and go everyday to a company office, others are self-employed and must find a coworking space in Berlin to run their businesses/projects. Working from home is definitely a possibility. But after another day realizing you are still wearing your pyjama at 3 p.m, you feel that a change of environment could boost your motivation and your fashion creds. Thankfully, finding a spot in a coworking space in Berlin is easier than ever, with new spaces opening thanks to the start-up scene & the creative industry.

PostWork – coworking space memberships

PostWork* is the largest network of coworking Spaces and coworking Cafes in Berlin and Potsdam. It currently counts most of Berlin’s high quality workspaces as their partner (around 35). So a lot of the coworking spaces I describe further below such as b+ office, Ahoy! or Unicorn.Berlin are part of PostWork. For me personally and everyone who prefers to work from different places from time to time, this is the perfect offer (and super flexible). They give special deals for startups and companies as well and the unlimited monthly coworking option starts at 99€.

Postwork grants you unlimited access to coworking spaces in Berlin & Potsdam for a monthly fixed fee.

b+ office

Not the biggest coworking space in Berlin but certainly one of the most comfortable and bright ones. b+ office also has several individual offices and a BBQ area for the warmer days. Being located next to the Bergmannkiez, there is a lively neighborhood just next by too.

Sankt Oberholz

If you ask which coworking space in Berlin is most famous, they might say St. Oberholz. Famous for being at the heart of the so-called “Sillicon Allee”, it was also the starting point of famous ventures. Soundcloud had indeed their first informal offices there. It is also said that the Samwer brothers had a decisive investor meeting for Zalando there too. BetaHaus founders developed their coworking space idea from there. This Berlin coworking space is very much hyped but it deserves its reputation.

Enklave

Enklave opened fairly recently, born out of simply  wanting to “work with friends”, but it is now a bit more focused to offer a professional environment. Pricing structure is interesting with this one as you can pay-as-you go measured only by WiFi connection. I’m not sure this exists anywhere. You will meet different profiles there, entrepreneurs, artists & freelancers alike.

One of the most visible landmarks of the recent years with world-famous companies working there (Soundcloud, Uber, Twitter, Unu, etc). Factory Berlin is more of a campus than a coworking space in Berlin and it has slowly shifted to becoming a full-fledged business club. It prides itself on becoming the most influential business space in Berlin for the new economy. Access to the community space is possible through applications only. You can also work at their location around Görlitzer park.

Kiez Büro

With as much as 5 locations scattered around Berlin, Kiez Büro tries to have a friendly, approachable and familiar philosophy. Here, you won’t find huge open spaces with hundreds of members. Smaller spaces for maximum 20-25 spots will make sure that the next face is not just another stranger. They have private offices available too. As they say on their homepage, no need to be the next Wunderkind or Startup genius to be part of it, all freelancers that need a comfy and reliable space to work will just fit right in.

You can also try http://www.treffen.work. Creating new dimensions of work experience. Offering unused, cool and on-demand spaces throughout the city for 1€/hour.

The service is non-membership and offers a wide range of spaces that differ by location and atmosphere.

Take my advice: don’t even consider Enklave in Neukelln. Very bad service, dark and dirty place, unpleasant crew.
