Doing the Anmeldung is necessary to get a tax ID, start work and generally be able to use services like a German bank.

It can be a confusing document when speaking no German at all. You can use 2 methods here:

I hope this little guide on how to fill in the Anmeldung form in English for Berlin was helpful. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments.
Hi Bastien,
Thank you for your information regarding Anmeldung. I would like to ask what happens if you lose your Anmeldebestätigung or “Meldebescheinigung“, a residence registration certificate, can you retrieve it via requesting it again via an app or email? Thanking you.
Best NATS
Hey Novera. This is German so digitization of public services is a distant dream AND the process may also differ from location to location, or office to office. Some may accept to provide a new copy via email. However, since a new copy is usually a paid service (5€), it’s likely you will need to go into the office physically. Pro-tip: you can make copies of your original certificate yourself to spare yourself the trouble. The original stays in a safe place while the copies can be more readily available. Hope this helps.
Hi Bastien,
What a fantastic tool you have created. You have done a great help to newcomers.
I haven’t used appmeldung yet but I am sure when I need anmeldung, Definitely I will use it.
Some guy told me that by renting a post box in the post offices we can anmeldun with that post box information. Is that true in BERLIN?
Best wishes,
Hamid
Hey Hamid. I have no idea. That is a great question. Not sure if it would work.
Hi,
Do i have to fill the anmeldung form in german or english ?
Hey Ali. Preferably in German to avoid any confusion. But only a few items are problematic. In doubt, you can use Appmeldung.
Hi,
I submited the Anmeldung form and for “Religionsgesellschaft” (My Religion) I choose
“No religion or none of the above”. But, when the pdf form was generated, I noticed that another option was selected by error by the system (Ramano-Catholic). How can I edit this form since it is not correct? Can I create a new one with the correct option hopefully?
Thanks in advance for your answer,
Radu
Hey Radu. Do you talk about Appmeldung now? I can help you if you tell me which city too.
Hi,
Is it possible to get Anmeldung based on apartment booked via ArBnB for first month?
Best regards,
Aleksandra
Hey Aleksandra. In theory yes. You would have to get the landlord’s agreement for that though.
Hi Bastien,
Thank you for this post! I still have one doubt. I have to anmeldung in my new flat. Do I need documents from my landlord if this is my second anmeldung here? And additionally, My girlfriend is also living with me, does she need to give a power of attorney or can i file the forms myself since she is living with me? I assume the first question the answer should be YES and the second one should be NO, but wanted to check it with you.
Thanks!!
Hey Andres. Yes, you need approval from your landlord every time you move in somewhere. You can do the Anmeldung for your girlfriend at the Bürgeramt provided you have a Vollmacht(procuration/POA) from her, all the right forms & both your ID/passport with you. Vollmacht template you can use here. First set of fields is for your girlfriend’s info.
Appmeldung.com is fake and cheating and waste of time. I filled in all the details and they showed everything correctly on the next screen . The letters on the form where not clear. But then they ask you to download the pdf which comes as blank form!!!
So what is the point of this excercise?
Hey Joe. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Could you send me a bug report with Os used, browser used, & wich city you tried to use the app for? I will take a look.
